  Running update

My running group at work has kept on schedule, putting in 4.5 miles on Tuesday and 5.5 miles today. I have not had to deal with any aftereffects that might make life difficult. i had no severely sore muscles or stiffness that prevent me from getting around. I did feel really tired last Friday and Saturday, probably because I had depleted all my energy reserves. I've felt it most in my upper thighs, groin and hips, which probably take the most wear and tear in the run, but that's probably where I need the most work.

It's a lot more enjoyable running with friends, than going solo. It makes the time go by real fast.

The weather is finally starting to turn chilly in Washington, DC.The group says that it's going to keep going through the cold months. I am going to have to equip myself for the conditions.

Hi I found your blog as I was researching the "stuff" in Peru/Shining Path. (opinion on them - terrorists). You're Peru post on Sendero is linked through Wikipedia.

Anyways, that isn't why I am writing you though! I thought what you're writing about here on your exercise/eastern religion blog/etc is very interesting!

And I wanted to tell you that I've had shin splints before, and a constant psoas injury that won't go away.

It has made it hard to do the elliptical/pilates/running/etc - all hard for me to do. I live in California, and we have a junior Olympic sized pool with a spa (aka Jacuzzi), so I've been taking a small boogieboard and using it as a kickboard and going across the pool, the other day I did 30 lengths. I'm trying to work up to an extra 5 per day. I was doing freestyle across the water, but found that my legs were not getting as much exercise.

And here's where the spa/jacuzzi comes in. After I do my lengths in the pool, I get into the spa and use the jets on my sore areas - ie right side bursitis hip, and right side psoas muscle (the pain has been moving on that, which I know from previously doing acupuncture that that is a good sign).

And recently I was researching balneotherapy and hydrotherapy (both are water based and somewhat similar) as well as trigger therapies, and finding that I'm doing the right thing for my aches and pains.

I was doing Kali-Ray Triyoga for Hips DVD for my issues, but I am finding that the spa jets help more. I think I have scar tissue there and I believe it is helping me.

Oh and the pool is not heated this time of year, but your body gets use to the cold believe it or not.

Sincerely,
Mrs. S.E.

Many people hear voices when no-one is there. Some of them are called mad and are shut up in rooms where they stare at the walls all day. Others are called writers and they do pretty much the same thing.
